This is a new project, because we simply don’t have enough spaces to develop as artists. The Hollywood Queer Open Mic and Workshop gives a space for self-identified queer artists to polish their work in a dedicated, supportive environment. This event comes from my experiences at the World Stage in Leimert Park, the San Francisco Queer Open Mic, the South Bay LGBT Open Mic and the wonderful and hard-working artists I have toured and shared with.
